Lionel Richie remains in the intensive care unit of a St. Louis hospital, where doctors are running tests on his heart, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The 74-year-old singer checked himself in for examinations after his Saturday night performance at The Muny theater. Initially, doctors were also looking into possible mild dehydration, and Richie hoped to be discharged on Tuesday. However, he is now expected to leave the hospital on Wednesday.

Witnesses at the St. Louis show said Richie appeared to struggle near the end of the concert. He asked his team to bring him a chair so he could sit while performing his final song, «All Night Long.»
This is not the first health scare on the current tour. In June, Richie was rushed to a hospital after falling ill on stage in St. Paul, Minnesota, during the opening night. He told the crowd he felt dizzy and strange, then cut the show short and was taken away by ambulance.
That earlier hospitalization forced him to postpone a concert in Chicago. Richie now has a break in his schedule, with the next show set for September 26 in San Francisco.
